The feeding clinic service is provided by Stacey Zimmels, Feeding and Swallowing Specialist Speech Therapist and Paula Hallam, Specialist Paediatric Dietitian. Between us we have 40 years of experience supporting children’s feeding, eating, growth and nutrition.
If your infant or child is having feeding difficulties which may be impacting their growth and nutrition then the feeding clinic may be the right choice for you.
Consider The Feeding Clinic if your child has:
poor weight gain
bottle aversion
fussy eating
limited or restricted food intake
food refusal
food allergies with associated feeding challenges
been advised to start solids before 6 months
problems with progressing onto a range of textures of foods
problems with chewing and swallowing
weaning from nasogastric tubes or other enteral feeding methods
Paula and I will jointly assess your child, the assessment will include:
Detailed feeding history via parental questionnaire submitted and reviewed prior to the assessment
Assessment of growth
Completion of food diary. The nutritional and environmental aspects will be analysed before the assessment and feedback will be given as part of the assessment
Oral examination/oral motor assessment (as appropriate)
Observation of your child eating and drinking
Together we will provide you with an individualised plan to optimise your child’s feeding and nutrition.
